Four businesses in Newport have been presented with certificates after coming out on top in a competition launched by Natasha Asghar MS.
Natasha, who represents South Wales East in the Welsh Parliament, launched her Best of Newport competition earlier this year to shine a light on some of the area’s businesses.
She invited residents to submit entries for best takeaway, hairdressers, pub, and shop.
After counting up the votes, Natasha has now been out and about in Newport presenting the winning businesses with their well-earned certificate.
The winners are:
- Best Pub – The Rising Sun in Rogerstone
- Best Takeaway – Harbour Fish Bar
- Best Hairdressers – Dimensions Hair Studio in Rogerstone
- Best Shop – Lliswerry Stores
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“Huge congratulations to the businesses who won my 2025 Best of Newport competition and to all those nominated.
“It was great to see so many people get involved in the competition by putting forward their favourite shops, pubs, takeaways, and hairdressers. Thank you to all those who took part.
“People are often always quick to judge Newport, but our city is a fantastic place to live and work. We have lots of great businesses community spirit and we need to do more to show our great city off alongside the amazing people too.”
